In Chhattisgarh, security forces gunned down six armed insurgents in Dantewada district on Sunday. Two police Jawans also succumbed to their injuries sustained in the fierce encounter.
Two other Jawans are undergoing treatment. AIR correspondent reports, a joint police force was on a search operation in the forests of Barrempara village near Aranpur this afternoon when the maoists started firing upon them. The team responded promptly and it succeeded in killing 6 maoists.
Apart from the dead bodies, firearms and other maoist material have been recovered from the spot. Bastar IG Sunder Raj P told that the number of maoists killed may increase as intensive operations are being carried out in the area.
