Foreign tourist arrival in country increases by 18.1%

 Foreign tourist arrival in the country has increased by 18(point)1 percent in October this year over the same period of last year. According to the Tourism Ministry, the number of foreign tourist arrivals in India during last month was 8.76 lakh as compared to 7.42 lakh in October 2016.

Most tourists came from Bangladesh followed by the US, the UK, Sri Lanka, Canada and Germany.

The Ministry said, during October this year, a total of 1.76 lakh foreign tourists arrived on e-Tourist Visa as compared to around one lakh during the same period last year registering a growth of 67.3 percent.
