Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio wins vote of confidence

Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio Tuesday won the vote to prove majority on the floor of the House. 

On invitation from the Speaker, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio moved the motion to prove People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA), headed by him has the majority in the House of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly. 

Maintaining that since the House had newly sat, there was no requirement for any discussion, Speaker Yoshü put the motion to signature voting. 

Rio won the confidence of the House with all 33 NDPP-led PDA members in the 60 member House voting in his favour, while the 26 NPF legislators voted against him. The Speaker did not cast his vote. 

Addressing the House after proving his majority, Chief Minister Rio said he looked forward to conducting the August House in the most impartial manner. He also ensured to provide a cordial atmosphere for functioning of the House. 

The Chief Minister further called on all members, cutting across party lines, to keep up the spirit and traditions of Democracy while carrying out their responsibilities.
