UN Security Council discusses violence along Gaza-Israeli border

The United Nations Security Council held an emergency meeting last night to discuss the violence along the Gaza-Israeli border.

The violence, which broke out after the opening of US embassy in Jerusalem, claimed the lives of more than 50 Palestinians on Monday. More than 1,200 people were injured in the mass protests.

According to the Associated Press, the draft statement categorically stated the expression of outrage and sorrow at the killings, sought an independent and transparent investigation into the incident and called on all sides to exercise restraint.

The meeting was necessitated after the call made by Kuwait.
