V. K. Murthy

Murthy crafted some of Hindi cinema’s most breathtaking images, in starkly-contrasted black and white. He became synonymous with another legend, Guru Dutt; and is best remembered for his stunning camera work in all his films. It was Guru Dutt who recognised his talent and gave him the freedom to innovate. Murthy is no more; He passed away on April 7, 2014, aged 91. But his legacy is eternal. His iconic images stand still, as part of Hindi cinema’s hall of fame. He was also a recipient of the International Indian Film Academy Lifetime Achievement Award at Amsterdam in 2005.
